On 6 December, in Geneva, Mr. Mohammed Abdellahi Louli, the Minister of Digital Transformation, Innovation, and Modernization of Administration, said that his department recorded, with satisfaction, accelerated development of electronic payment systems in the country, thanks tothe emergence of electronic wallets and the prevalence of mobile payment in them.In this regard, he welcomed the increase in the percentage of electronic recharge from 11% to 44% over the last two years. This is what emerges from a speech delivered during advocacy activities aimed at boosting electronic commerce in Mauritania, on the sidelines of the electronic week of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), held in Geneva, from 4 to 8 December. ”Assessing Mauritania’s readiness for e-commerce is a very important subject for the Mauritanian government, given that it is aware that e-commerce can be a powerful lever for the national economy, a key pillar for its resilience to cross-border shocks and crises, and a real point of support in light of the uncertainty and fluctuations in the global economy,” as he put it.
