Prime Minister Receives UNFPA Regional Director for West Africa

The Prime Minister, Mr. Mohamed Ould Bilal Messaoud, met, in Nouakchott, with Ms. Argentina Matavel Piccin, the regional director of the UN Population Fund (UNFPA) for West Africa. The talks focused on the fruitful cooperation ties between Mauritania and the UNFP and the ways and means to further strengthen them. Shortly after the meeting, the UN official said that she had the honor of being received by the Prime Minister during the official visit she is currently making to Mauritania. She added that the meeting was an opportunity to exchange on several topics falling within the objectives of the UNFP, such as the reduction of maternal deaths, women’s empowerment, and girls’ education.
