The seventh edition of the Dakar International Forum on Peace and Security in Africa kicked off Monday in the Senegalese capital. Minister of Defense Mr. Hanana Ould Sidi represents Mauritania at this high-level event. According to the organizers, this edition will promote more effective partnerships. The two-day forum aims at strengthening peace and security in Africa, through a better understanding of the issues of stability, in a post-COVID-19 world. Thus, during panels, workshops, and plenary sessions, heads of state, members of government, administrators, and security officials who made the trip to Dakar, will discuss the overhaul of multilateralism and security policies. This implies initiating a paradigm shift which should make it possible to create an adequate framework to better exploit development aid, but also and above all to mobilize investors for the benefit of peace, security, and emergence. The work of the 400 participants in the 7th edition of the Dakar Forum, held on 6-7 December, will produce the new “Dakar Appeal” for a stable Africa, sufficiently resilient in the face of crises and determined to initiate socio-economic development. It is noteworthy that the 7th edition had to take place last year, but it had to be postponed following the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic. Finally, it should be noted that Mauritania was at the forefront of the sixth edition because its President, Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazwani was the guest of honor.
