Economy, Finance Ministers Meet With IFC Vice President

On 21 April in Washington, Mr. Ousmane Mamoudou Kane, the Minister of Economic Affairs and Promotion of Productive Sectors, and Mr. Isselmou Ould Mohamed M'Bady, the Minister of Finance, held, on the sidelines of the annual spring meetings of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund, a meeting with Sergio Pimenta, the Regional Vice President for Africa of the International Finance Corporation (IFC) in charge of Africa, the Regional Director of the IFC for West and Central Africa, and the Director in charge of Mauritania, as well as the resident representative of the World Bank to Mauritania. The meeting focused on cooperation relations between Mauritania and this financial institution of the World Bank Group. The meeting reviewed ways to finance private sector projects in Mauritania in collaboration with partners, including the Fund of Infrastructure and the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development. The meeting discussed supporting the Agency for the Promotion of Investment in Mauritania, updating the investment code and mechanisms of technical assistance to the public-private partnership (PPP). It also addressed the financing plans of Mauritanian financial institutions and banks.
