Preparatory Committee for National Consultation Starts Work

The work of the preparatory committee for the national consultation chaired by the Minister Secretary-General of the Presidency of the Republic, Yahya Ould Ahmed El Waguef, began on 16 April in the Diplomatic Academy of Nouakchott. In a speech delivered on that occasion, Mr. Ould Ahmed El-Waqf indicated that the consultation takes place at the request of political actors. He added that it is part of the implementation of the directives of His Excellency the President of the Republic, Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani since he took the reins of power in the country by opening the political spectrum without exception. He indicated that the President of the Republic had instructed him to steer this consultation with a committee comprising, among others, representatives of the Presidency of the Republic, the Prime Ministry, and the Ministry of Interior. These departments are responsible for implementing the results of the consultation. In this respect, he expressed the hope of seeing a partnership between the various actors, which would make it possible to progress, solve the problems our country is facing, and allow our fellow citizens to contribute to development.
