President of Republic Presides Over Swearing-In Ceremony of New Constitutional Council Members

On 2 February, the President of the Republic, His Excellency Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, President of the Superior Council of the Magistrature, chaired the swearing-in ceremony for four members of the Constitutional Council, at the Presidential Palace in Nouakchott. The President of the Republic invited the four members, namely Ms. Hawa Tandia, and Messrs. Ikebrou Ould Mohamed Sidigh, Ghali Ould Mahmoud, and Bilal Ould Dick to take the following oath: “I swear by Allah, the Almighty to perform my functions with dedication and to exercise them with complete impartiality under the Constitution, to keep the deliberations and votes strictly confidential, to avoid taking any solemn position, and not to give an opinion on matters falling within the competence of the Council”. The swearing-in ceremony took place in the presence of Messrs.: - Cheikh Ould Baya, the Speaker of the National Assembly; - Diallo Mamadou Bathia, the President of the Constitutional Council; - Adama Bocar Soko, the Minister Secretary-General of the Presidency of the Republic; - Mohamed Mahmoud Ould Cheikh Abdallahi Ould Boyé, the Minister of Justice; - El Houcein Ould Naji, the President of the Supreme Court; - Ahmed Ould El Hacen Ould Cheikh Mohamed Hamed, the President of the High Council of Fatwa and Complaints; - Hmeida Ould Ahmed Taleb, the President of the Court of Accounts; - Sidi Mohamed Ould Mohamed Lamine, Attorney General at the Supreme Court; Saleh Ould Dehmach, Advisor at the Presidency of the Republic; Ebneta Mint El Khaless, Secretary-General of the Constitutional Council.
