President of Republic Inaugurates new Extension of Nouakchott Autonomous Port

The President of the Republic, His Excellency Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, inaugurated the new extension of the Autonomous Port of Nouakchott. The extension consist of the construction of a container terminal with a height of 570 meters and a depth of 150 meters, which provides an additional capacity of 600,000 containers per year, in addition to the port's previous capacity of 350,000 containers. The extension, a public-private investment, will enable the Autonomous Port of Nouakchott to receive large-scale vessels and triple its unloading capacity due to the modern discharge mechanisms. The overall cost of this extension is $320 million.
