The First lady Mariem Vadel Dah affirmed that the Mauritanian woman has always played different roles in the military service, noting that the defense of the homeland was not limited to men; women have participated in many military and security missions.
She added that despite the presence of women in the field of security and defense, the female representation remains substandard and essentially limited to administrative roles; thus, women do not satisfactorily participate in decision-making.
The first lady made these declarations on Saturday at the conferences palace in Nouakchott, where she supervised the launch of a campaign aiming to encourage the Mauritanian and G5 Sahel women to participate in security and justice professions.
