President of Republic Discusses Common Interest Issues with French Counterpart

His Excellency the President of the Republic, Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, attended Wednesday evening at the Elysée in Paris, a dinner given in his honor by the French president Emmanuel Macron. The dinner was an opportunity for the President of the Republic and his French counterpart to discuss the reinforcement of the bilateral relations at all levels. Both parties also discussed various issues of common interests, particularly those related to the security situation in the Sahel region and the achievements of our country during its presidency of G5 Sahel despite the complexity of the situation and the negative repercussions of the Pandemic Covid-19 at the global and regional levels. The most significant results of this meeting were the mobilization of military, economic, and political support for the five countries of the Sahel. This support has also been reflected in the launch of several initiatives such as: the coalition for the Sahel, the coalition for stability and security of Sahel, and other initiatives. Both presidents talked about the improvement of the efficiency levels of field plans, which is reflected in many decisive victories recorded during this period, in addition to the strict and regular monitoring of the implementation of the ‘’Pau road map’’ and the deepening of awareness of the need for the international community to assume its responsibilities regarding the situation in the Sahel. During this meeting, the two presidents reviewed the great efforts that have been made to reduce the debts of the five Sahel countries.
