Signature of Two Fundings Support Agreements for Basic Education Sector

Nouakchott,6November 2020(AMI)-Two finance support agreements signature between the Global Partnershipfor Education Fund(GPE),the Internatinnal Developement Fund (IDA)and Mauritania ,targetting the support of education development phase 2, were signed,Friday 6 November in Nouakchott by the Minister of Economic and Productive Sectors Promotion ,M. Ousmane Mamadou Kane and the Word Bank resident representativein Mauritania, Mme Cristina Isabel Panasco Santos. These fundings are destined for the amelioration of human resources developement, put in place scholar road map to develop schools.It will also contribute in the rehabilitation and contruction of new schools,develop teaching skills and curriculum manuals. The projects funding is an umbrella of Fifty Two Million us dollars(52.000.000 ), Twelve Million us dollars (12.000.000) from the Global Partnership for Education Fund(GPE). In his speech on the occasion, the Minister declared that these projects are in line with the priorities expressed by the governement for the developement and support of education in general. M. Ousmane Mamadou Kane,thanked and evaluated on behalf of the Mauritanian people and the government the support that the World Bank always grant to Mauritania. And praised the level of cooperation between the two parties which covers more domains such as energy ,agriculture, livestock, environment,social protection,governance and institutional developements. The World Bank resident representative has declared that these two financing agreements are part of partnership between the world bank and Mauritania. She indicated that the World Bank institution pays more attention to education in any country which is the booster of any developement. The agreements signature ceremony took place in the presence of Minister of National Education ,Formation and Reforms.
